T-Mobile has announced that they're changing up their unlimited plans a little bit, with the most noticeable change being a shift away from the T-Mobile One branding. The new plans, while similar, will be called Magenta and Magenta Plus.
There's good news with the Magenta plans, too. They cost the same as T-Mobile's old plans, so $70 for the first line, $120 for two lines or three lines, and $140 for the fourth line. Add $15 per line for Magenta Plus. You're also getting more mobile hotspot data on the base plan, which now allows for 3GB of high-speed data instead of 3G speeds all the time.
However, the Netflix side of T-Mobile's plan is getting worse. Magenta customers will be getting Netflix basic, which means you can't stream in HD and you can't stream on more than 1 device at a time. This is completely due to Netflix's recent price hikes, so I get it, but it's always a bummer to see something like a Galaxy S10 limited to a standard definition video stream.
If you're on the current T-Mobile One plan, you can keep your plan and your standard Netflix plan, but you will see your bill go up $2 in July to match Netflix's higher prices. Alternatively, you can opt out of Netflix On Us completely and avoid the increase. T-Mobile won't force you off the plan, but they will raise rates on you.
hmm…’Magenta’ is supposed to be a google OS in the works…
