League of Legends will be the next powerhouse game to be ported to mobile 4

Since phones have gotten more and more powerful we've started to see more high profile games ported over to smartphones and tablets. This current trend works a little bit better than a few years ago when old PS2 era games got mobile ports with questionable controls and lacking graphics, too. Just ask Fortnite.

But the success of Fortnite and PUBG have caught the eye of other developers, and now League of Legends looks to be the next titan of gaming that's set to come to mobile.

League of Legends is a very popular PC MOBA that has millions and millions of players. Despite being limited to just PC it's easily one of the most played games in the world today, and it's freemium model definitely helps to keep that player base up. But that pay scheme also does pretty well on mobile, so it makes sense to try and capture some of the lucrative mobile gaming market as well.

Tencent, who owns League's developer Riot Games, has reportedly been working on a mobile port of the game for some time now. It's not a 1-to-1 port, either, but a port that takes advantage of what mobile does well and includes its own set of characters and mechanics.

We're expecting this very soon, but perhaps not this year, according to the report. Tencent also had a hand in bringing PUBG and Fortnite to mobile, so they know what works and when not to rush things.
