In most cases, you don't have to worry about a dirty camera lens; however, you're more than likely to smudge it on the Galaxy S8 due to the weird fingerprint sensor placement. Samsung realizes this, and has setup a reminder for you to keep the camera lens clean.
This reminder only appears after you setup the fingerprint scanner. After it's setup, once you open the Camera app, the Galaxy S8 will remind you to clean up the lens.
It doesn't seem to be a “smart” technology of sorts in that the Galaxy S8 knows the lens is dirty. Rather, it's a remind that will occasionally pop up when you launch the Camera app.
Either way, it's a neat reminder that isn't too in your face.
