Joining announcements of a new Fire TV Box and the cut-rate Fire Tablet, Amazon also launched a new tablet oriented to children, the Fire Kids Edition tablet. The Fire Kids Edition is a successor to last year's Fire HD Kids Edition, but the price has been reduced from $149 to only $99. Amazon has started to accept pre-orders today with units shipping on September 30th.
The Fire Kids Edition comes with an updated “kid-proof” case, a Fire tablet, and one year of access to Amazon FreeTime Unlimited. This gives parents access to 20,000 age-appropriate websites and YouTube videos, access to more than 10,000 books, videos, apps and games, and a 2-year guarantee. The tablet itself comes with a quad-core processor, front and rear-facing cameras, and a microSD slot that supports up to 128GB of storage.
