It just might be the last year of the Nexus, and if it is, it could go out with a bang. We already know about the Nexus X, but is it going to be a 5.2-inch model or a 5.9-inch model?
It's expected that the Nexus X will in fact be 5.9-inches, but we also know that Motorola is testing two Moto S devices, a 5.2-incher and a 5.9-incher. It's unclear whether Motorola will release both devices, but a source close to the supply chain is saying that Google is readying the unused device. So If Motorola releases the 5.9-inch version under the Moto S name, Google would then take the 5.2-incher and make it a second Nexus device.
I'm not really sure why it matters what Motorola does here. If Google wanted to release both the 5.2 and 5.9, I don't see why it makes a difference whether Motorola releases it under the Moto S name or not. More importantly, what would Google call it? They already used the Nexus S name a few years ago.
I guess we will have to wait and see. Google has never released two Nexus smartphones in the same year so this would be a big change. I think it makes sense to offer two sizes though since 5.9-inches won't be attractive to a lot of people. What do you guys think?

My salt shaker is almost empty, 5.2″ sounds plausible but whats the point in google selling a 5.2″ & 5.9 & 7″ & 10″ devices ? ( assuming that the nexus 7 will still continue to sell untill all the devices are sold ).
Nexus seems to be following trends more than it sets then as an Benchmark for other android handsets.
this is to be the 6th Generation of the “MOBILE-PHONE” sized device and yet still google have failed to deliver a device that covers what people would really want from a smart phone.
From 3 iterations of better Cameras ( all iterations have still been worse than whats offered by the competition )
Poor Battery Life since the get go in the mobile handsets ( Nexus S / Nexus 4 / Nexus 5 to name the worst performing from my personal experience )
Lack of SD Card slots / Acceptable amounts of storage for a modern handset ( 16 Gig variants ? ! even for the Galaxy Nexus was bordering on too little let alone when they still produced the N4 & 5 ! )
Unless they can deliver a 5.2″ / 3000Mha Battery / 32 or 64 gig Storage / a DECENT FREEKIN’ CAMERA they will have lost their way.
The LG3 does all this already and if google are slapping a marginly better CPU/GPU it will mean nothing for most nexus users, the 800SoC is already capable enough for normal smartphone useage, and those who play games will likley have a Tablet to do this on.
This needs to be a serious step up from the Nexus 5 for me to consider buying one again.
Nexus Phone ( X or 6 or whatever ) at 5.2″ seems the most likely, the rest smells of rotten eggs
Under $400, no contract, no skinning. Guaranteed quick updates for several years. Call it Roy Battie if you like, but please, retain at least those features…
An indestructible 5.9″ extremely thin phone might actually fly fairly well. A 5.2″ phone with a case would be around the same bulk, I would think…
“Nexus S name a few years ago.” They released a Nexus7 in 2012 and a Nexus 7 in 2013.
Granted they were both 7 inch tablets by Asus.
the S moniker is less descriptive. The only thing that could be bad is someone thinking they buy the new Nexus S for 200$ on ebay to realize they bought a 3+ year old phone.
