HTC provides free One (M8) to owner of melted Galaxy S4

Talk about free upgrades…

Reddit user TweektheGeek’s Galaxy S4 overheated and partially melted overnight — he contacted Samsung, and was told he'd be receiving both a new device and a mail-back box to send his old device back for inspection.

While the mail-back box came, no new device ever showed up. Enter HTC product manager Leigh Momii.

Momii offered TweektheGeek a brand new HTC One M8, as long as he promised to donate the S4 if he ever received it from Samsung. He gladly agreed, and was shipped his new device.

Of course, not everyone will be able to take advantage of the same offer from Momii, but it's still nice to see HTC reach out to do something nice — even if it's just for PR.
