Samsung made the switch to Tizen OS from Android today when it changed the current operating system on the Galaxy Gear  in an update.

Samsung previously noted that a future smartwatch from the manufacturer would be running Android Wear, Google's specially-developed OS for wearable devices.

Samsung's return to Android in the wearables sector may be coming sooner than we originally thought, as a recent trademark filing suggests.

The company filed for the name “Galaxy Wear” at the Korean Intellectual Property Office. Of course we don't know any other details, or even whether this will in fact be the name of Samsung's future device running Android Wear, but it does serve as a pretty big hint.

Expect the device to hit the market by the end of 2014.
