As far as manufacturers are concerned, Samsung is probably the least vocal when it comes to update announcements. We already know that the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S 4 are locks for KitKat, considering they're already receiving the update, but other devices were in limbo. However according to a source close to the matter told  the folks over at Phandroid, that a few other devices would be receiving the latest OS update. They include:

  • Galaxy Note 2
  • Galaxy S 3
  • Galaxy Tab 3 7.0
  • Galaxy S 4 Active
  • Galaxy Mega
  • Galaxy S 4 Zoom
  • Galaxy Note 8.0
  • Galaxy S 3 Mini

The update itself doesn't change much, given that the big changes came with Android 4.3 in the support for Galaxy Gear, as well as new camera features. However, there are subtle visual changes through out. On top of that, users will see the increase in performance that comes with Android 4.4.

There isn't official word on if or when these updates will surface but if those sources are accurate, it looks like Samsung isn't ready to abandon its devices from two years ago just yet. That should make those who aren't ready to upgrade just yet very happy.
