The rumored Nexus 8 could arrive sooner than expected. Rumors have the 8 inch tablet pegged as arriving mid 2014, but as Nexus 7 numbers continue to disappoint, that time frame has been moved up. The lack of sales appears to stem from a combination of bigger phone displays and other similar sized tablets. With phablets blurring the lines between bigger smartphones and smaller tablets, the need for smaller sized tablets has been decreasing.

According to DigiTimes, the Asus made tablet is expected to ship two million units starting out and should arrive at the end of April. Even though it's rumored that HTC has won the bid for a new Nexus tablet it looks like Asus will be making this one.

  1. Disappointing sales? how many tablets do you think we need? Its not a device that people use all the times however, everything that push technology further will be well received.

  2. I think it was too soon. I can’t be the only one who thought the 2013 Nexus 7 was nice, but still had an earlier version that was working fine.

  3. Nexus 7 sales are slow because we are all waiting to hear the announcement about the Nexus 10! (yeah, I’m only wishing out loud).
