Verizon Releases PR Statement on Galaxy Nexus Release Status

by Jack Holt
tagged , , , ,

Well finally after a whole lot of silence after each targeted release date miss Verizon is speaking up about the Galaxy Nexus. In a short PR statement Verizon announced the following:

“The Galaxy Nexus is still on track to launch this year. We will definitely send a press release to announce availability. Feel free to visit www.verizonwireless.com/galaxynexus to sign up for email alerts to be one of the first to know.”

So with that being said, it appears that tomorrow’s rumored launch is not going to happen. Although it does say that the device is still on track for a release this year and that we will hear it straight from the horse’s mouth when it will happen. So even with the rumors of the Nexus launch flying about you can safely bet that it won’t happen until we hear it straight from Big Red. If you have missed out on any of the news regarding the Nexus you can read all about it right here. I don’t know about you guys though, but I am both saddened and relieved at Verizon’s statement.

Even if Verizon decides to release this Google Flagship with the pure Google experience before years end, that’s too late, the phone is close to being obsolete already. Might as well wait for a real phone, like the Galaxy S3This has to be one of the most screwed up product launches in smartphone history – dont need you Verizon anymore

untill verizon screws up the release of the S3 another 6 months

I just called several corp stores and got nothing in terms of good info to confirm/deny a release, tomorrow, 12/15. Now, just in case, I called a certified reseller thinking that they would not be dealing with corporate bs managers telling them to be mum about a release. This guy told me to come by at noon E., tomorrow, and that they had a confirmation email telling them that tomorrow is a “GO” for a release…. But, but, but… they have none in stock, and that nobody has any in stock (yeah, I know the rumors of them sitting in locked cages), and unless they recieve some today, or tomorrow morning, that I would essentially have to buy it and wait for them to receive it, for them to call me, and then go there to pick it up. Again, out of 5 corp stores, and 1 reseller, I only got confirmation on 12/15 release from one guy, the reseller.

Well screw Verizon, they lost my business.  I’m switching providers.  They did this at the worst time, my Droid 1 contract was up in Nov.  I waited and now they pissed me off.  Tomorrow I am going to go pick a phone up or end my relationship with Verizon.

Local VZW factory store said they have had the phones for 3 weeks. Also they have a lot of the accessories including the Car Mount dock. Of course they do not know about the release date.
