NEC unveils 7-inch 9.9mm thick Android netbook prototype

NEC unveiled a super thin Android netbook, dubbed the MGX. It has a 7-inch (1024 x600) screen, is 9.9mm thick and weighs 350 grams. It will also include Wi-Fi and HSUPA-based 3G.

The MGX netbook hinges allow for a 360 degree opening so expect the screen to have touchscreen abilities. They are promising 10 hours of battery life, but don’t expect this to be cheap. It’s expected to cost around 80,000 yen or $1,040. By the time production is finalized, hopefully that will come down. No word on availability, but we will let you know as soon as we hear.
