Go ahead and put this into the possibly interesting, possibly offensive categories for the day. According to a source of thisismynext.com, HTC and Verizon have been doing research and studies to put out an Android-based phone aimed almost completely at American women in their 20s and 30s. Check in after the break for some more info on this particular curiosity.

The phone is supposed to feature such distinctive qualities as a “calming” green color, a rubber back so “women can have a better grip of the phone,” and possible apps for shopping and calorie-counting. On top of this, possible accessories that are going to be available for the phone will be a wireless charge dock with built-in speakers for alarm (okay, that's kinda cool), an attractive Bluetooth headset, a visor-mountable speaker with voice recognition, and a sort of advanced phone charm. The charm actually sounds like it could be useful, as it flashes to indicate when the phone has any sort of new notifications on hand.

So, ladies….I've gotta ask. Does this sound as remotely patronizing to you as it does to me? It's almost far-fetched enough to be a joke, but apparently it comes from a pretty good source. At the same time, I could believe it, given the utter masculinity characterized by Verizon's current line-up of Android phones, with their monochrome industrial-design. If you look at other carriers, most of their offerings are universally acceptable or come in a different color to accommodate different tastes. Looking at Sprint as an example, you have the EVO as their high-end flagship device, a phone that, while slab-like, sports rounded corners and comes in both black and white colors. On their budget-friendly side, you have the Optimus S, a user-friendly phone that comes in both black and purple. This seems to be the more cost-effective approach, given that the company would have to develop less phones. It's interesting that Verizon, contrary to this, offers such polarizing choices.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Whether Verizon end up wrapping up their research and releasing this device or not, we'll be keeping an eye on this to see how it progresses.

  1. All is not congenitally perfect. Only loathing I could lament hither isthat there are so diverse plans after downloading and on you can fondle lost. But as you can believe, it is hard to band 14,000 woodworking plans. In my impression, it is upstanding great as it is. The author was demanding to sow dissension among them into categories next to similarity and usability.

  2. I personally don’t find this offensive. More choice is always good, even if it’s fruitier choices. Some of those option I’d like on my N1. As long as they offer it to everyone and that ladies can pick any other model, I think this is pretty cool. My GF would most probably love it.
