HTC can’t bust the slump, sales fall nearly 70%

I’m sure by now everyone’s well aware of HTC’s constant financial struggles, and they just announced a slew of layoffs at their manufacturing division last week. It has to get worse before it gets better (if it’s going to ever get better) and there’s a new bit of bad news for the Taiwanese company.

HTC’s financial report for June is in, and it’s bad. Like, the worst month HTC has ever had kind of bad. Sales of the HTC U12+ haven’t done much for sales, and their sales have dropped 68% from the previous year.

Google officially closes the talent acquisition deal with HTC

It’s just been a flurry of weak phones, regardless of whether or you’re talking about HTC’s high end market or their middle-tier devices. They’re struggling to compete on all fronts with an extremely competitive smartphone market.

There aren’t any silver linings here, unfortunately. HTC needs a miracle or a potential buyer with deep pockets, and you can flip a coin as to which one’s more likely.

Stupid is what stupid does. Uninspiring phones with sky high prices. I think consumers have been avoiding HTC since 3 or 4 years ago. Everyone could sense the company was going downhill. Who wants to do business with a company whose bankruptcy is imminent?
