Alcatel’s Idol 5S, A50, and A30 Plus are official and already live on Amazon

A new trio of phones from Alcatel just went official.

Debuting today with a release date scheduled for July 10 are the Idol 5S, A50, and A30 Plus.

It’s been a very quiet year for the company until today. In 2016, Alcatel was introducing new hardware at steady space every couple of months. This year, however, Alcatel has waited until the midpoint to introduce the noteworthy devices. Now we have three to serve different types of consumers. One of them, the Idol 5S, is the success to last year’s Idol 4S and thus should be recognized as Alcatel’s 2017 flagship.

Let’s see what these three are all about.

Alcatel Idol 5S

Spot any differences between the Idol 5S and its predecessor? It’s difficult. Both have aluminum frames, glass backs, and front-facing stereo speakers. So it’s definitely Alcatel’s premium device.

This phone features a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, a 12MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, a 2620mAh battery, a USB-C port, a fingerprint scanner, and Android 7.1 Nougat.

Alcatel says a software update to be released this summer will make it compatible on Verizon and Sprint’s networks in addition to T-Mobile and AT&T’s.

While the price for Prime members is $199, everyone else will have to pay $279 for the Idol 5S.

Alcatel A50

Alcatel’s Idol A50 plays to the crowd that likes customization and entertainment. The A50, which has an all-metal body, supports SNAPBAK. Think of SNAPBAK as a modular-like platform. There’s the LightUp SNAPBAK for interactive LED lights, the Sound SNAPBAK for enhanced audio with stereo sound, and the Power SNAPBAK for doubling battery life.

This phone features a 5.2-inch HD IPS LCD display, MediaTek’s 6738, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, a 2800mAh battery, a USB-C port, and Android 7.0 Nougat.

While the price for Prime members is $99, everyone else will have to pay $99 for the A50.

Alcatel A30 Plus

Anyone who needs the basics will go for the A30 Plus. It’s just your average budget phone that cuts corners to be affordable but not garbage. And it does Nougat out of the box, which many devices under $200 can’t say.

This phone features a 5.5-inch HD IPS LCD display, MediaTek’s 6738, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, a 3000mAh battery, a micro-USB port, and Android 7.0 Nougat.

While the price for Prime members is $79, everyone else will have to pay $129 for the A30 Plus.
