There are so many audiences being catered to with Android, but Google will be applying a new focus on children. Through its Android Developers site, the company announced Designed for Families. Parents will be able to opt-in to the program and have the Play Store spotlight family-friendly apps and games. Families and children then have access to content that is specifically made for them. Google has eligibility requirements set to ensure the program's integrity.

This is how Google explained the program's existence:

Google Play is committed to the success of this emerging developer community, so today we’re introducing a new program called Designed for Families, which allows developers to designate their apps and games as family-friendly. Participating apps will be eligible for upcoming family-focused experiences on Google Play that will help parents discover great, age-appropriate content and make more informed choices.
