Moto X+1 confirmed to pack the Snapdragon 801

Last month, it was revealed that the upcoming DROID phones will sport the Snapdragon 801, so we kind of knew the new Moto X+1 would as well. In case you needed further confirmation, a Geekbench benchmark reveals the XT1097 with the 801 in question.

Previous benchmarks led people to believe it was the Snapdragon 800 because of the processor model of MSM8974, but based on the clock speed of 2.46 GHz, it is likely to be the 801. The Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet, and Find 7 sport the MSM8974-AB, which is the 801, and the Galaxy S 5 has the MSM8974-AC, which again, is also the 801. Those last 2 letters will probably be different for Motorola since it will likely be part of their new and updated Mobile Computing System.

Now it’s possible that the XT1097 is actually a DROID device, but either way, I think it’s safe to say the all the DROIDs as well as the new Moto X+1 will feature the 801.

Why would you assume this? The Moto X model was based on the X8 processor and the whole bring greater than the sum of the parts. The OEG X had a year old processor when launched. When you put cost into the mix with Moto trying to keep retail low, the 801 makes no sense.
