HTC allegedly working with Bose to shrink speakers size for smaller bezels

There are not many complaints when it comes to the HTC One (M8). It flaunts an aluminum unibody, sharp display, and BoomSound speakers. With that last one, though, comes some disadvantages. The speakers take up a decent amount of space and then HTC’s own logo-stamped bezel gets stacked on top of that. So the biggest issue people have had with the device is its bezels. It seems like HTC has a response by working with an audio expert.

For their next flagship, presumably called the HTC One (M9) for now, the company will work with Bose Corporation in order to make a more efficient set of stereo speakers. In return, the bezels of the device can be reduced and achieve the near edge-to-edge display that so many other hardware manufacturers are working towards. Bose has solely focused on the audio equipment industry, so HTC is outsourcing the work to a company that very well knows what potential solutions are.

Sweet. Get rid of that stupid HTC banner while you’re at it.

If anyone knows how to do a waveguide in a small folded enclosure, it’s Bose. Their bread and butter has been squeezing sound out of what have been truly inferior drivers. I still use my AW1 and have been for 25 years without fail or regret.
