Google’s other “Nexus” tablet is all set to get yet another lease on life. Participants of the Motorola Feedback Network just got the heads up of an imminent update that is going to be pushed to the still-popular Xoom Wifi tablet sometime today:

Hello,

Thanks for signing up for the Motorola Wi-Fi Xoom software test. It’s been awhile since we asked you to sign up — thanks for your patience! The software should be pushed to your phone later today.

This update is not expected to make large and obvious changes to your Xoom. In some cases you may not notice much at all. As usual, please report your observations in the private community provided. (Link is below.)

To ensure we hear you, please follow these guidelines:

  • Please post all your feedback in our private community. This also where you’ll find help during the soak. As usual, you will be unable to post on our public communities during the soak.
  • Please do not call or contact Motorola support for help during the soak. Those teams are not yet ready to support this software.
  • I’m not able to check private messages on the forums during soaks, so if you need immediate help that’s not a good route to take. Post in the community instead.
  • If you have any problems accessing the private community, please click here for help.

Please start your visit to the private community here. You’ll find additional important information in the Welcome message as soon as you sign in.

Thanks so much for your participation! We really appreciate your time and insights.

Regards,

Matt

All in all, this looks like the clear signal that the latest Android OS is likely going to be pushed to the device— keeping pace with other developer devices like the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus. Even though this particular update is not “expected to make large and obvious changes to your Xoom”, any update is always welcome for us Android folk. If you’re a participant of the MFN and own a Xoom Wifi, keep yourself on the lookout for the update which can be pushed out at any time. Oh and when you do see the update, do tell us how if you see any noticeable differences on your device.

For the rest of you U.S. Xoom Wifi owners— if all goes well, expect to see the update being pushed out within the next few weeks.

Cheers John!
