Motorola and Intel unveil the RAZR i with Intel Inside and edge to edge 4.3-inch display

The new partnership between Motorola and Intel has officially begun. Motorola and Intel unveiled the RAZR i this morning in London. As we reported earlier, it’s essentially the DROID RAZR M, but with one major difference. The i signifies Intel Inside and it sports Intel’s latest 2GHz processor. What will this 2GHz chip give us? Obviously speed is going to be the main selling point and Motorola is touting that the camera will now load in less than one second and there’s a new burst shooting mode that yields 10 shots in less than one second. It’s also about battery life. The RAZR i sports the same 2000mAh battery that’s in the DROID RAZR M, but it will be more efficient. They are claiming that it will be “40 percent more powerful than the competition.” What is that competition? According to the press release it’s the iPhone 4S, which isn’t saying much, but I’m very pleased with the performance of the DROID RAZR M.

The rest of the specs are the same with the 4.3-inch edge to edge qHD (960 x 540) display, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 8GB of storage, GPS, NFC, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Just like the DROID RAZR M, the DROID i is upgradeable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

LONDON – Sept. 18, 2012 – Motorola Mobility in partnership with Intel Corporation introduced the powerful Motorola RAZR™ i with Intel Inside®: the new full-screen smartphone that fits in the palm of your hand. Its Super AMOLED Advanced 4.3-inch display spans from edge-to-edge with virtually no border – giving you more screen with less phone. The power of Intel Inside means you also get an instant-launch 8-megapixel camera that can load in less than a second2. Just use the dedicated camera key so you get the shot you want. When there’s action involved, multi-shot mode lets you snap 10 pictures in less than a second. And with the illuminated sensor located on the back and High Dynamic Range (HDR) capabilities, you’ll get a great shot, even in challenging lighting conditions.
