Is the Aston Martin smartphone suitable for 007's legacy? 4

Luxury smartphones branded with the name of expensive European car manufacturers is becoming a trend since Ferrari has one as well as Lamborghini. How about Aston Martin? The British car company that is most famous for being James Bond's car of choice has decided to throw their grandiose markings upon a luxury phone. Can this phone live up to the legacy set forth by 007?

Well, lets start off with build materials, because with a luxury phone, that's generally what you're paying for. You have a choice of five different auspicious colors when ordering your Aston Martin Aspire; gold, rose gold, silver, black and white. The former two colors will be priced at approximately $1,590, an extra $300 over the latter three. This is due to the fact that they will be made using real 24 carat gold in their construction. In addition to these pretentious build materials you will also receive a slew of extra accessories including two 1,500 mAh batteries, A leather pouch for carrying the device, special Aston Martin branded headphones, and an extra fancy retail box.

So far this is looking to be a phone fit for the top MI6 agent until you look at the specs. It sports a tiny 3.2 inch HVGA (480 x 320) display, an 800 MHz single core processor, 256mb of RAM and 512mb of ROM to power the Android 2.3.5 operating system. The cameras consist of a 5 megapixel rear sensor and 0.3 megapixel front VGA camera for all your photo snapping needs. With such outdated specs, this phone seems to be more fit for Inspector Clouseau rather than a secret agent like James Bond.

Yet again, we have a another subpar phone that's branded with a high end car manufacturer at a ridiculous price. How can such a prestigious car manufacturer make such compromises on something they intend to put their name on? Moreover, why do car companies keep trying to make phones? The world may never know. Of course, if you're dying for a ludicrously overpriced phone that screams “I HAVE MORE MONEY THAN COMMON SENSE!” then I suppose this phone might be for you.

    1. Maybe it’s just a distraction for the times when he doesn’t want to whip out the truly impressive “on-board” equipment.
