Early Droid X 2.2 adopters out of luck, says Motorola

Uh-oh. It seems that the leaked Froyo build for the Droid X will not have an upgrade path to the official build, according to an official statement from Motorola. This means that if you downloaded the leaked version and flashed it to your Droid X, you’re pretty much out of luck when it comes to getting the official Froyo build.

Unlike HTC, who released a special patch to help all early adopters of the leaked Evo Froyo build, Motorola will leave those users who jumped ship to early Froyo goodness in the dust. You can, however, still get the official Froyo build by flashing back to 2.1, so if you want the real deal, you better flash back, or no Froyo for you.  From Motorola’s statement:

WARNING: Do NOT load the leaked 2.2 upgrade that has been floating around on the Internets. There is currently no upgrade path from that load to the official 2.2 load that will be released by early September. Unless you have some plan to flash your phone back to the current official load, you could be stuck on the leaked version.
