Recently, Dell had announced the upcoming release of the Dell Streak, their Android based tablet/phone. According to TGDaily and Chief Blogger Lionel Menchaca of Dell, the Dell Streak will be SIM locked with AT&T. Menchaca recently tweeted this message regarding the $549 version of the sttreak: “Lots of folks are asking about the $549 version of #dellstreak. To be clear, it will not be unlocked. It is SIM-locked to AT&T.”
The Dell Streak is available for $199.99 with a new two-year contract, but you can hand out the $550 for the Streak without a contract. The catch is that if you buy the Streak without a contract, it won’t work with any other carrier other than AT&T, so what’s the point?
Don’t worry though. Give it some time though, I’m sure hackers will find some exploit thus giving you an unlocked Streak, that is capable of working on other various networks =).
