One of the coolest features on the original Moto X had to be Active Display. So it's no surprise that it found it's way onto the all new Moto X. Now called Moto Display, it's also not surprising that it is much improved. Moto Display will show you your most recent notifications without turning on the full display. You can even read the contents of each notification such has what someone texted you. This is an obvious battery saver.
The biggest change this year is the ability to “peek” at the last three notifications rather than just one of them. If you remember, Active Display would show you more than one notification, but you could only read the contents from the most recent one. Now you can see the contents for up to three of them, all without turning on your phone's fully lit display.
Moto Display resides in a brand new app called Moto. Just open it, tap on the gear icon at the top right, and tap on Actions.
Just make sure the box for “Moto Display” is checked. Now all your notifications will appear on the Moto Display. If you want to omit (or add) certain apps, just tap on “Select Apps” and uncheck or check your installed apps accordingly. You can also opt for hiding your notification details when you are using a secure lock screen. Just check the box next to “More Privacy.”
