Google has officially pulled the wraps off the Pixel Watch 4 and they're calling it their most ambitious smartwatch yet. This generation introduces a first-ever domed Actua 360 display with slimmer bezels and a brighter output, along with industry-first features. Preorders are live now, with general availability starting October 9, 2025.

Pixel Watch 4 is built to be stronger

The Pixel Watch 4 introduces a completely re-engineered Actua 360 display that curves across the active area itself. It now appears as a 10% larger usable display with 16% thinner bezels. Google has also increased the brightness to 3,000 nits.

The crown is now slightly larger and sits higher to allow for a more precise scrolling experience. Importantly, Pixel Watch 4 comes in two sizes of 41mm and 45mm compared to the single 41mm option of Pixel Watch 3.

Watch 4 also upgrades to custom Corning Gorilla Glass that’s tougher and bonded with aerospace-grade aluminum housing. For the first time, it’s serviceable, such that you can replace both the battery and display.

Undoubtedly, Watch 3 materials were strong. But they created a heavier product and left the glass edges more vulnerable to impacts. The newer model is lighter in its 41mm model at 31 grams, compared to the Watch 3’s 45mm at 37 grams. Although Google didn't share the exact figures of its strength, we can guess from the materials science side.

Aerospace aluminum is typically either 6061 or 7075 alloy. 6061 has about 310 MPa yield strength and is known for corrosion resistance and machinability, while 7075 is around 570 MPa.

It has a much higher strength but less corrosion resistance. For wearables like the Pixel Watch 4, 6061 is the more likely choice since it balances toughness with light weight and recyclability.

AI features are abundant on Watch 4

Pixel Watch 4 now uses the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 over the previous Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 with a new ML-powered co-processor that’s 25% faster while consuming half the power. The hardware supports new AI-driven features, all of which are powered by Gemini on Wear OS 6.

For example, Raise to Talk enables you to lift your arm to activate the smart assistant without pressing a button or saying “Hey Google”. Smart Replies generate suggested responses to incoming messages that are tailored to the context of the conversation.

Personal Health Coach watches your fitness, sleep, and health data from Fitbit and offers proactive coaching. Other features include Automatic Workout Detection, Smarter Sleep Tracking, Enhanced Health Insights, On-device Language Assistance, and Contextual Gemini Help.

Pixel Watch 4 price surges above predecessor

The two models have 325mAh and 425mAh batteries that have increased battery life to 30 hours on the 41mm model and 40 hours on the 45mm model, with Battery Saver extending it to 2–3 days. Before now, Watch 3 offered about 24 hours on a single charge. The newer model also introduces a Quick Charge Dock that hits 50% in 15 minutes.

Memory options include a 32GB storage space and 2GB RAM. Both models are IP68-rated for dust and water resistance. They can handle immersion up to 50 meters under 5 ATM pressure, but are not designed for high-velocity or high-temperature water activities. You don't want to take them diving, water-skiing, or into hot tubs, all of which create forces and heat that exceed what the seals and adhesives are tested for.

The device integrates dual-frequency GPS, a skin temperature sensor, and standalone satellite communication on LTE models. These are capabilities its predecessors had none of or faced limitations with.

Pricing for the Pixel Watch 4 starts from 350 for the 41mm version. You can get it in four colors: Iris, Lemongrass, Porcelain, Obsidian. It costs $400 for the 45mm, which comes in Moonstone, Porcelain, and Obsidian.

The smaller model is already $100 more than the Pixel Watch 3, while the larger option is $150 more expensive. By comparison, the Pixel Watch 3 launched at $250 for its single 41mm size. As aforementioned, it'll launch on October 9 alongside the Buds 2a and Pixel 10 series.

  1. and, yet, it still looks like something you get from a cracker jack box. at least put some effort into not making it look like a toy and an actual piece of hardware you’re going to abandon overnight in 5 years time when you’ve sold millions of them like google does with all their tech.
