I know a few Nothing loyalists in real life, and they started off as OnePlus loyalists, following Carl Pei as he left the now-established OnePlus to take on a new challenge. In my opinion, Nothing's devices stand out in a market that is filled with very “samey” devices, and it provides an option for those who want to be different.

It's 2025, and that means that we're expecting Nothing's third generation of devices, the Nothing Phone 3 and Nothing Phone 3a, to make an appearance. Well, good news. The company has already confirmed that the Phone 3a series is on the way, indicating at least two devices. They've also let us know to set our calendars to March 4th.

The Nothing Phone 3a Will Be Made Official on March 4th

Nothing's past devices aren't what anyone would call flagship phones, even Nothing itself. However, as much as they are solid midrange devices, they aim to offer as much value as they can, excellent software, and a design that makes them instantly stand out in a crowd. It's not an exaggeration to say that there's literally nothing quite like them in the entire market.

For those who might have been hoping for the mainline Phone 3 to start off 2025 for the smartphone OEM (especially as it is expected to be a proper flagship), I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. The Phone 3a series will be the first from the company, and there's not mystery as to when to expect it. Nothing has given the date of March 4th, at 10 AM GMT, so just a little over a month away.

From the teaser and an official image that Nothing has on its website, we can see that the device will mostly remain the same compared to the Phone 2a series, but that's not a bad thing. An earlier teaser from the company also seems to confirm a triple-camera setup, with the OEM's iconic Glyph lighting surrounding the lenses.

It's Shrouded in a Privacy Case, But This Image Might Confirm the Phone 3a's Design

The Nothing Phone 3a isn't that far off, but a recent leak from Sanju Choudhary on X seems to confirm the camera arrangement for the phone, at least. The device is wearing one of those privacy cases that we've seen the occasional leaked phone in, so we can't say much else about the design from this. However, it aligns with our expectations.

A Nothing Phone 3a Leak Gives Us a Lot More Insight Beyond Its Looks

How the Nothing Phone 3a looks isn't something that a lot of Nothing fans are really going to care that much about. Instead, they want to know what the device is going to be rocking on the inside, and I have to admit I'm very interested in knowing that too.

Thanks to Gadget Bits on X, we now have a lot more info on what the upcoming smartphone might bring. For one, expect a large 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate—it'll make do with FHD+ resolution, though. There'll be a 50MP primary, a 50MP 2x telephoto, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. No more compromising, so yay to that. The front camera will be a 32MP module.

The device should have a 5,000mAh battery, 45W fast charging, and should be powered by the midrange Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, so don't be surprised to see a bunch of new AI features. Glyph lights will make a return, and you won't need to wave bye to NFC, as that shows up too (unlike on the CMF Phone by Nothing). There's also expected to be a Plus or Pro model, but there's no word on that yet.
