Arguably every year, Samsung releases the contender for smartphone of the year with that year's respective S series device. This year, the S24 Ultra is arguably at the top of the list when it comes to the potential winner for flagship of the year. Overall, the device is nearly perfect.
The only major complaint people have had has been related to its cameras. Supposedly, the performance you expect on paper doesn't translate to the camera experience itself, especially when compared to the S23 Ultra. Samsung has been working on it with major camera updates, and the next big one is coming in August.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra's August Update Will Bring Several Camera Updates
The way things go each year, the S24 devices, especially the Ultra model, are expected to have some of the best cameras in the smartphone world. This year, that's still true, but the camera performance was not at the level that most people expected when the smartphones were released. Samsung seemed to acknowledge that there were some software kinks to work out, and a few software updates targeting the camera have come out since.
Well, the work on getting the camera to its very best isn't done yet, even almost half a year after its release. According to X tipster Ice Universe, it seems like the August update is going to be heavily camera-focused, which should be good news for all S24 Ultra owners. It should include optimizations to HDR, white balance, face detection, and video zoom, as well as improvements to overexposure and overprocessing complaints.
However, there will supposedly be no changes to the quality of the telephoto cameras and night mode shots at over 10x magnification. However, that's just the current state of the update right now, and further improvements might still be stuffed in before the update goes live.
One UI 6.1.1 Should Bring Many Good Features To The Foldables, And Samsung Will Pass These To The S Series
The next major update for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is going to be the first update that comes after the launch of the new Galaxy Z foldable phones. If you're conversant with Samsung's releases and how they align with its software versions, you'll know that while One UI 6.1 came out with the S24 family, One UI 6.1.1 is going to launch with the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.
One UI 6.1.1 is expected to come with new AI features, one of which is a new AI-powered sketch-to-drawing feature. This will supposedly allow you to sketch an image, feed AI with a prompt on how you'd like it to clean up, and complete your sketch for you, and boom, it'll do that. This is similar to what Apple showed off earlier this year.
While the S series doesn't traditionally get an actual version change to One UI x.1.1, it may still get these features in the next update, while sticking to the One UI 6.1. This new sketch-to-drawing feature could potentially be best applied to the S24 Ultra, thanks to that built-in S Pen.
