As a smartphone company, you can get by selling only phones, but considering the fact that pretty much every major smartphone manufacturer has smartwatches, tablets, earbuds, or other accessories in their portfolio, why should a company like Motorola leave any money on the table?
This isn't their first foray into audio equipment, but along with the launch of the Edge 50 family of devices, Motorola has just unveiled their own truly wireless earbuds, the Moto Buds and the Moto Buds+. Let's dive into what they have to offer.
Motorola Gets Back Into Wireless Earbuds With The Moto Buds And Moto Buds+
Back in 2022 or so, Motorola launched some wireless earbuds called the Moto Buds 150, and they weren't really much of a hit. However, the company's strategy has changed quite a bit. This year, alongside three amazing smartphones, Motorola has also released the Moto Buds and Moto Buds+, made in partnership with esteemed audio manufacturer Bose.
These earbuds can be customized to the fullest when paired with the Moto Buds app, which gives you the ability to tweak the Dynamic Active Noise Cancelation, Adaptive Mode, and Transparency Mode settings on both sets of buds. It gives you so much more functionality too, like speedier pairing, multi-device pairing, and more.
The Moto Buds
If you're a Motorola user, why go for earbuds from Apple or Samsung when you can just get the Moto Buds? “Because what does Motorola know about good sound?”, you say. I can't give you a definitive answer to that, but I can tell you that Bose knows a lot more about great audio quality than most, and considering they partnered with Motorola on these, there are high expectations set in the sound department.
The Moto Buds use a 12.4 mm dynamic driver with professional tuning from Bose to crisply play anything from Hozier to 21 Savage. Plus, if using the Moto Buds with a device that supports Hi-Res Audio, you'll get the full extent of sound, since these are certified for that. That means a wider dynamic range and three times as much audio detail.
They've got Bose-grade Active Noise Cancelation, which is among the best in the game. Need to tune out that airplane hum or traffic noise when traveling? These have your back, especially considering the two triple-mic systems they come with. On a single charge, you'll get 9 hours of playtime, and by charging for just 10 minutes, that's 2 hours more.
You can get these earbuds in Starlight Blue, Glacier Blue, Coral Peach, and Kiwi Green colorways. There's no official info on pricing yet, and this will depend on your region.
The Moto Buds+
The Moto Buds+, as the “+” might let you in on, are the bigger option in Motorola's new audio lineup. If you're big on EDM, rap, and other genres that rely on booming bass, then the Moto Buds+ can be your partner in crime. They come with dual dynamic drivers tuned by Bose from crisp high-end and deep low-end. These earbuds are also compatible with Hi-Res Audio sources, so you can take advantage of music streaming apps with significantly better sound.
The Motorola Edge 50 Pro and Edge 50 Ultra support a feature called Dolby Head Tracking, and so do the Moto Buds+. What this means is that when wearing the buds, watching a movie, and moving your head, this feature will readjust the sound in a natural fashion, similar to what you expect from real life.
With these buds, you can get 8 hours of playback on just one charge, and you get faster charging too, so a simple 10-minute charge gives you three more hours of listening. The case also offers you 38 hours of extended life when fully charged. Plus, it supports wireless charging!
Of course, you get Active Noise Cancelation here, along with Adaptive Mode and Transparency Mode, and all of these can be customized easily through the Moto Buds app. You'll be able to get these buds in Forest Grey and Beach Sand.
