You might not have known, but Nvidia, the company that makes the best-known graphics cards for PCs, has a cloud gaming service called GeForce NOW, and this lets you game at high quality by connecting to gaming hardware over the cloud. Now, NOW becomes even more accessible with day passes.
You Can Now Pay For Access To Nvidia's Cloud Gaming Service For 24 Hours
GeForce NOW is an amazing proposition, at least on paper. You can play the latest games smoothly on dedicated gaming hardware even when all you have is a dinky little Chromebook? It sounds hard to go wrong with that, but the problem is, you might not want to pay for a whole month, especially if you know you don't tend to game that much. You might not also be sure whether it is worth it for you.
Well, GeForce NOW has introduced a more flexible plan: Day Passes. Are you the kind of person who games heavily once or twice a month and then nothing more for the rest of the month? This is the thing for you then. With Day Passes, you get the same perks as a premium monthly subscription, but for 24 hours only.
There are two types of Day Passes: Priority and Ultimate. They mirror what you get with the similarly-named monthly memberships, but let's talk about them more below.
What Do You Get With The Priority Day Pass?
The Priority Day option is the cheaper choice and you'll only need to part with $3.99 to get access to it. With it, Nvidia will give you access to their premium rigs with raytracing capabilities, priority access to their premium servers, and no ads. You'll also be able to game at up to 1080p/60fps and you can play for up to six hours straight. Don't worry, you can start a new session (for another six hours if you want) once you hit the limit.
The monthly Priority subscription is $9.99, so the Day Pass is the budget-friendly option if you play at most twice a month. Otherwise, your wallet will be better off with the monthly sub.
What Do You Get With The Ultimate Day Pass?
The Ultimate Day Pass is the top-tier option as the name might give away, and it'll set you back $7.99 for a day. You get some similar benefits to the priority pass: no ads and raytracing; but you'll be running on rigs with RTX 4080s that can run games at up to 4K/120fps on their dedicated RTX 4080 servers. Plus, you can play for up to eight hours at a time.
However, the monthly Ultimate membership costs $19.99, so if you anticipate you'll be playing at least three times a month, it's better to go with this plan instead of a Day Pass.
It's great to see that GeForce NOW is still going on strong. Google Stadia tried a similar cloud gaming model but failed spectacularly, so it'd be nice to see Nvidia make it to the end.
