Each year, Samsung's new S-series devices are probably the most anticipated Android smartphones of the year, though competition for that top spot is always getting tougher, even from in-house options like the Z foldables. Now that the S24 launch is behind us, the buzz around the Z Fold is taking over the airwaves.

We've been digesting a lot of leaks around the specs and the design of the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, and now, we've gotten our first high-resolution renders of what the foldable is expected to look like. As an S22 Ultra owner, I'll let you know that I greatly like the new look.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Is A Significant Design Revision

We've been looking forward to more information about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, especially considering we've heard a lot about a few but very noticeable design modifications. Well, thanks to Smartprix and X tipster OnLeaks, the first renders of the Z Fold 6 are finally in the public line of sight.

Just like we heard before, the Z Fold 6 will be leaving behind the softer corners that the series has had since its inception and is moving onto sharper corners similar to the more recent Samsung S Ultra devices. The edges will stay flat and potentially switch over to titanium, a more premium material.

The overarching effect of these design changes is a more aggressive-looking Z Fold device. It allows for a marginal increase in screen area as the displays don't need to cut off as much with their rounding in the corners. Paired with thinner bezels, this might mean a sleeker-looking smartphone overall. From the renders alone, I like what I see.

Based on the dimensions in comparison to the Z Fold 5, it also seems like the reports that the device will be going for a wider aspect ratio are also true. The cover display looks a lot closer to the average smartphone instead of the unusually tall screens from previous Z Fold phones.

The Specs Aren't Too Different From the Z Fold 5, But There Will Be Galaxy AI

Besides what is essentially a facelift, how else will the Galaxy Z Fold 6 differ from the Z Fold 5? It's always good to have an idea of this in case you're looking to upgrade to the upcoming model.

The screen sizes stay the same — 6.2 inches on the cover (though some reports say it might get bigger), and 7.6 on the inside —though the aspect ratio will change up somewhat, with the exact number still unknown. We do expect Corning Gorilla Armor over the cover display, and a bump in peak brightness. The device thickness will remain at 6.1mm when unfolded, so if you're hoping this will be the year the S-Pen is coming to the foldables, it isn't.

The Z Fold 6 will have similar storage configurations, though it looks like there may be options with 16GB of RAM this year. All the cameras also look to be the same sensors as on the Z Fold 5, though reports have said that Samsung will be improving the under-display camera.

Generally speaking, there are very few hardware upgrades to justify a direct upgrade from last year's model, but the software side of things is likely to be more appealing. There'll be One UI 6.1 with Galaxy AI features, though some of those will trickle down to the Z Fold 5 (though it might not be the entire suite of features). The Z Fold 6 will likely also be blessed with seven years of major OS updates, similar to the S24 phones.

When Can Interested Buyers Get The Z Fold 6?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will launch at summer's Samsung Unpacked event, likely to be in late July. There aren't any definitive reports on how much the phone will cost, but you should expect a price tag very similar to its predecessor — around $1,799.
