As is usually the case once a new chipset has been announced, a number of smartphone brands have indicated that they are already at work developing new flagship smartphones which will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, with OnePlus claiming that it will be the first to launch with its OnePlus 11 Pro.
Not to be outdone, Xiaomi is also claiming to be first to market with its Xiaomi 13 series whilst Oppo says the same with its Find X6 series although it's likely that this only applies to the Pro model.
Other brands that are less forward with their claims include the likes of Motorola with its Moto Edge 40 series, Vivo with its X90 series, Red Magic with its 8 Pro flagship, and ZTE with its upcoming Axon 50. Other brands mentioned by Qualcomm during the event include the following:
- Honor
- Meizu
- Sony
- Iqoo
- Redmi
- Sharp
- ASUS
- Republic of Gamers
We should see the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered phone announced before the end of this year, although if it is OnePlus or Xiaomi it will likely be a China-only release initially. Samsung isn't included in the official list but we expect the new Galaxy S23 series to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset at least in part if not entirely, depending on whether the rumors are accurate.
Which brand are you most looking forward to launching a phone that is powered by Qualcomm's latest flagship processor?
