As we edge closer to the January 18th cutoff date for the Stadia cloud gaming service Google has begun issuing refunds to users who are being notified via email.
Refunds will be automatically issued for purchases of Stadia hardware, all games and DLC (add-ons) bought through the Google Store. Stadia Pro users aren't eligible for refunds although they will be able to play Pro games until the January 18th deadline without being charged further.
“Starting November 9, 2022, Stadia will attempt to automatically process refunds for all purchases of games, add-on content and subscriptions fees other than Stadia Pro made through the Stadia Store. We ask for your patience as we work through each transaction and ask that you refrain from contacting Customer Support as they will not be able to expedite your refund during this time. We still expect the majority of refunds to be processed by January 18th, 2023.“
Stadia users will be notified via email for each separate transaction made through the Google Store unless you have 21 or more transactions in which case you'll get a single email notification.
Google will refund any monies to the original payment method although if that is not available it will send instructions via email on how to set up an alternate method. If you've already deleted your Stadia account, you'll need to contact Stadia Customer Services to claim your refund.
