With gas and other bills getting more expensive, Verizon's new Welcome Unlimited plan could offer you a way of both saving and making some cash. The new plan offers unlimited 5G data, text, and calls with prices starting from $30 plus a $240 e-gift card from Verizon when you switch to the plan using your own LTE or 5G smartphone.

You'll need to switch four lines to Verizon's Welcome Unlimited plan to achieve the $30 monthly fee, with another $5 discount if you switch 5 or more lines. You'll also need to select Auto Pay and paperless billing or the monthly payment goes up by $10. An important point to remember is that Verizon will give you a $240 e-gift card per line you switch up and you can do this for up to 12 lines which adds up to a handy $2,880, so long as everyone brings their own phones.

Verizon will send the $240 e-gift cards out 45 days after activation, and you'll need to stay with the Welcome Unlimited plan for a year or the carrier will ask you to pay it $240 back.

“The Welcome Unlimited plan, available separately from Verizon’s Mix & Match Unlimited plans, includes all the basics you need – unlimited talk, text and data – and the network you want at an amazing value. The plan couldn’t come at a better time as nearly all Americans (86%) are concerned with budgets and expenses increasing over the summer, according to a recent Verizon and Material+ survey.”

Sounds good, right? As with everything there are a couple of caveats in that the Welcome Unlimited plan doesn't include high-speed Ultra Wideband, and neither does it include a 5G hotspot. It's the type of plan that makes sense when switching two or more lines thanks to Verizon asking for $75 for a single line before taking paperless billing or autopay discounts into consideration. There's also a $35 activation fee to consider.

Welcome Unlimited is Verizon's cheapest unlimited 5G plan so long as you move multiple lines over, use your own smartphone, and don't care about 5G hotspot usage or Ultra Wideband connectivity.
