Wear OS

While we await the first results of the merger between Google and Samsung's respective smartwatch platforms, Wear OS has been the recipient of some much-needed attention. After months of stagnation, Wear OS finally got its own YouTube Music app, and now, even the Play Store is being upgraded with some handy new features that perhaps should have been there all along.

One of the new features is the ability to browse apps via the Google Play Store on a Wear OS smartwatch and then install the chosen app on your smartphone, remotely.

The Play Store on Wear OS is also getting a refresh so that it matches up with the Material You design with important information on cards both easier to read and select. New search filters and category pages in the Play Store for smartphones show whether the chosen app can also be installed on a Wear OS smartwatch and if they are watch apps or watch faces.

According to Google, the update will roll out in the next few weeks to Wear OS smartwatches running version 2.x and higher so it might be worth your while heading over to Settings to see if the OTA is already ready for your device.
