June 2nd is the big day for Huawei and the continued development of its HarmonyOS software with version 2.0 being unveiled along with new hardware such as audio devices, tablets, wearables, and monitors. Those with current hardware such as the Watch GT 2 series of smartwatches can reportedly look forward to an update to HarmonyOS 2.0 in the coming months.

While there's no timeline on when Huawei might upgrade its current crop of Watch GT 2 smartwatches to HarmonyOS 2.0, HuaweiCentral is reporting that the following models will receive the update:

Quite what the HarmonyOS 2.0 update will add to the Watch GT 2 series of smartwatches isn't clear, but it's possible that we should experience improvements in battery life and performance and maybe new options in terms of customization.

We are headed to Huawei's event tomorrow for the unveiling of the HarmonyOS 2.0 software, and we'll should have furthers to share thereafter.

  1. After the watches updates to Harmony OS are they still gonna be compatible with Android phones?

    1. Unsure but I would imagine so as not everyone using a Huawei Watch is using a Huawei smartphone. It wasn’t mentioned in the press release or the briefing, and I’m still waiting for PR to get back to me for a number of other questions. I’ll send yours along as well.
