Just a couple of weeks after the news that unlimited high-resolution photos would begin being counted towards the 15GB of storage with every Gmail account, Google Photos is gaining a new feature called Cinematic Photos in the Memories section. Thanks to the power of machine learning, Cinematic Photos will produce a 3D version of an image with depth and a virtual panning effect.

The Cinematic Photos feature will be created automatically and show up in the recent highlights section at the top of your photo grid, with the ability to be shared as a video in just a few taps. It’s a nifty addition to Google Photos that will show up once your phone is updated to the latest version.

Cinematic Photos isn’t the only new feature coming to Google Photos, the search giant has begun rolling out updated collage designs with richer, artistically designed layouts populated and stylized using AI such as the Then and Now template.

You’ll also see new types of Memories such as images of you doing activities and the things you photograph popping up. And, because some memories are too painful to revisit randomly, you have the option of hiding specific people or time periods.
These all seem like great additions to Google Photos, which feature are you looking forward to the most?
