SwiftKey is one of the most popular third-party keyboards in Android's history, and that growth has continued even after Microsoft's acquisition of the software.
Now the keyboard has hit another major milestone, crossing 500 million installs on the Google Play Store.
Shifting to a free model has definitely helped, plus all the support from other manufacturers pre-installing the keyboard on their phones. There's clearly some demand for a high-quality third-party keyboard, though, as evidenced by the continued demand over the years.
If you haven't tried it out, SwiftKey is still great, and usually better than whatever your phone has out of the box. Some people might argue for Gboard, but I think I'm on the SwiftKey train. Now's a great time to give it a spin.
