When Samsung announced the Galaxy Watch Active this year, it came with their “mobile” version of One UI, the newer, sleeker software that was found on Samsung handsets running Android 9.0 Pie. It includes a few new features and an easier to navigate interface, but we were all really hoping to see it back ported to some of Samsung's older wearables, too.
If you're using a semi-recent Samsung smartwatch, you're in luck. The Galaxy Watch, Gear S3, and Gear Sport are all starting to get an update that brings them more in line with the current Galaxy Watch Active software.
While the interface has been refreshed, there are still some cool new features worth mentioning. Touch to wake is here, plus some new tracking for outdoor swimming. There's a sleeping mode, an alert if your heart rate goes over a certain BPM that you can set, and improvements to phone syncing and workout tracking. Battery life should be improved, too.
If you have any of those watches, keep an eye out for this 100mb update that should be rolling out through the Galaxy Wearables app on your phone.
