LG has a few concepts in its graveyard of ideas, including small secondary displays and external modules. Both of those ideas have been wiped from their current crop of flagships, but it looks like they'll be reviving both ideas in one swoop, whether or not that's a good idea.
The device will reportedly feature a secondary screen that can be attached as a sort of case, adding a secondary display to the phone, doubling the entire screen space. Weird? Yes, very, but it's an interesting take when everyone else is trying to figure out how to make phones fold up.
LG is almost definitely going to show off this device at MWC next month, but they're not sure if they'll be putting this under the G8 branding. Supposedly a more traditional device will be the G8 ThinQ, while this device will end up being a side device. That makes more sense to me, since the last time LG tried modules with their main G series device it didn't do very well.
Whichever way you slice it, MWC is shaping up to be pretty interesting. We'll have complete coverage of the event to keep you up to speed with the all the new, weird stuff that gets shown off.
