Electrostatic speakers are a different kind of speaker than you're used to, and they manage to avoid the clipping and distortion that you get from traditional speakers at high volumes. We had a chance to test drive the Trevolo S speaker from BenQ to see just how they are, and our own Kent Oki dug in and did some pseudo-science stuff to see just how good the speaker is.
While these kinds of speakers do offer some trade-offs with more traditional speakers, our review found that the Trevolo S offers crystal clear sound that can easily fill a room in a sleek, compact package. The dual woofers and dual amps keep the speaker sounding crisp even at high volumes, and having a USB DAC is sure to make a lot of audiophiles happy, too.
The inclusion of things like NFC but not AptX for wireless Bluetooth streaming can be a little weird, which is one of those trade-offs mentioned earlier.
But don't take my word for it. Let Kent show you how it really is.
The Trevolo S is available directly from BenQ and Amazon for $199.
