Gameloft’s Asphalt 9: Legends racing game is now available on the Play Store

If racing games are your thing, then you may want to buckle up because Gameloft’s Asphalt 9: Legends is officially available on the Google Play Store, despite it originally only being scheduled for release tomorrow. Having been soft-launched in various regions recently, it’s great news that the game is finally open to everyone.

According to Gameloft, Asphalt 9: Legends offers a Console experience in the palms of your hands, which could be a little optimistic in my opinion. I mean, have they seen the Forza Horizon 4 demo at all? But I digress. In the game, you can collect up to fifty of the world’s best speed machines with the ability to customize the color and material of the car and its rims to your liking.

The game has more over 60 seasons and more than 800 events to keep you busy with, and the online multiplayer mode allows you to race up to seven other online players.  For the less-experienced players, there is an option called TouchDrive that streamlines car steering to free your mind to focus on the arcade fun and fast speed according to GameLoft. In reality, TouchDrive removes the ability to accelerate and steer. Instead, the player simply swipes left or right to select a path with the options to tap to drift or engage nitro.

So, the game is based on the freemium model which means that Gameloft wants you to spend lots of your hard-earned cash on the various In-App-Purchases (IAP’s) that are available, with some items costing as much as $99/£99. If you let others play the game on your phone or tablet, it’s advised to have the Play Store verify your password for every transaction to avoid surprise purchases.
