Huawei teasing Mate 10 launch with Kirin 970 inside 3

On October 16th in Munich Huawei will announce a couple items that have been in the works according to a new teaser image they posted via their Twitter account. The first of the items will be the Huawei Mate 10 series of smartphones. The other piece of the announcement will be the fact that Huawei already has their new Kirin 970 processor ready to go and it will be the powerhouse contained within the new Mate 10.

According to some previous rumors, there will be at least two different versions of the Mate 10 including a regular version and a Pro version. There is also the possibility of a Mate 10 Lite version being in the works. Huawei is not dropping any hints yet regarding processors for the devices other than the Kirin 970. That chipset is expected to only be included in the top of the line Mate 10 Pro.

The new devices are expected to represent a couple new steps for Huawei. One will be their entry into the growing list of devices with minimal bezels that allow the display to consume almost the entire front of the device. With the Kirin 970, Huawei will be moving into the market of processors manufactured with a 10nm process. Huawei also revealed that the Kirin 970 will contain a dedicated neural processing unit and is being hyped as containing AI-oriented technology.
