You're no doubt familiar with JerryRigEverything, the YouTuber that puts phones through a variety of different bend tests. This time the subject is the HTC U Ultra, and the results aren't good.
If you're looking for a phone with durability, you might not want to go with the U Ultra, according to JerryRigEverything's tests.
The Gorilla Glass 5 screen seems to hold up pretty well, but does still scratch at the 6 Mohs hardness level. The front and rear cameras are pretty resistant to it, but the autofocus glass scratches really easy. The big downside is when it comes to the bend test.
JerryRigEverything took his arm strength to it and it bent and broke into numerous pieces. “It flexes like a soggy twinkie,” he says. It still worked, but there's still no structural durability here. It gives you a pretty good idea as to how much heat it'll be able to take in the real world, and honestly, that isn't much. If you drop it or sit on it, it's just not going to be that resilient.
