The Galaxy S7 hasn't been out very long, and the rumors for its replacement are already starting. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is being rumored to sport a 5.5-inch 4K UHD display, according to market research firm UBI Research.
Is there much of a need for a 4K UHD display at this point? Not really. There's hardly any content that supports the resolution, but Samsung could be throwing this technology in its next flagship for virtual reality purposes.
On the other hand, the market research firm doesn't have any evidence Samsung will equip its next flagship with this technology. However, the research firm is very confident we'll see a 5.5-inch 4K UHD display on next year's Galaxy S8.
If this rumor has any credibility to it, it's still very far out. We have plenty of other smartphones coming up from Samsung that we're excited to see this year, such as the Galaxy Note 6, which is said to be equipped with a massive 5.7-inch or 5.8-inch QHD or 2K display. Not only that, but we're expecting to see a Samsung Galaxy X next year with a foldable 4K display.
It really is way too early to start speculating on the Galaxy S8. After all, a lot of things can change and happen in year's time anyway.
What would you like to see in Samsung's next big flagship?

4k for vr yes 2k is still not enough and bigger screen will give better fov
As much as I love the S7, just say no. Not bigger and no 4k – battery life is already lacking enough on devices w/o constantly upping the display resolution and increasing the drainage.
No… not bigger, for that there is note series
