Barclaycard for Android was recently updated with support for contactless payments, allowing users to use their smartphone to make purchases with the app.

Barclays is the latest company to offer contactless payment support, with many other companies in a race to offer their own as well. There is a small caveat with “tap and go” style payments in the UK, as they'll only work with transactions that are £30 and under, at least until the limit is raised again.

Unfortunately, Android Pay still hasn't made it to the UK, but Barclays' offering will hopefully tide those over who bank with the company.

“Tap and go” payments are quickly rising in popularity, with banks like Capital One and Chase trying to offer their own form of contactless payments. Samsung Pay is also seeing a huge amount of success worldwide.

Some still aren't sure about “tap and go” style payments, arguing that it takes the same amount of time to pull a card out of your wallet or purse. There's also still a high level of concern with security measures, particularly because of companies becoming the victims of high-level hacking.
