Activity trackers, depending on the maker, can be pricey and getting every desired feature can lead to you spending over $100. Xiaomi, though, doesn't believe it takes so much to produce a capable device. The company launched the Mi Band in July 2014 as a wearable that tracks activity and monitors sleep, costing just $14. Today, Xiaomi has a new model that adds in a feature that usually adds a hefty premium. The Mi Band Pulse has a built-in heart rate monitor while still carrying an extremely low price tag.

Overall, the Mi Band Pulse looks very similar to its predecessor. The main design differences between the two is that this model is thicker and sturdier. The extra thickness comes from the heart rate monitor and a 45mAh battery into it that should last around twenty days. Still though, the Mi Band Pulse is resistant to both water and dust, being credited with IP67 certification. Xiaomi wants people to wear the Mi Band Pulse everywhere they go without ever taking it off.

Connecting through Bluetooth 4.0, support is open to any Android device with Android 4.4 KitKat and above. Owners of an iOS device can also use the Mi Band Pulse as long as they are running iOS 7 and above. Then, with the dedicated Mi Fit app (that syncs with Google Fit), all of your data is organized in a single location.

The Mi Band Pulse is priced at $15, but Xiaomi has not said when the activity tracker will be available in the United States. People in China can buy the Mi Band Pulse on Wednesday, November 11, when the country celebrates its Singles Day. The original Mi Band will see its price drop to $10 upon the arrival of the Mi Band Pulse.
