Verizon has started rolling out a relatively minor over-the-air stability update to all its carrier-branded Galaxy S4 handsets currently located in the United States. Unfortunately, this upgrade doesn't bring much in terms of added functionality, but it does include a plethora of much-needed bug fixes and speed optimizations.

The build VRUFNG6 update bundles support for Samsung’s Knox 2.0 Enterprise software, Kids Mode, Softcard (formerly ISIS wallet), My Verizon Diagnostics (MVD) and Side Sync Call Forwarding Framework. There’s also several improvements included in this upgrade, all of which can be seen in the full changelog below.

The following improvements have been made:

  • Connectivity within messaging app
  • Accuracy of AOL email count
  • Voicemail reliability
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • ‘Apply’ and ‘Cancel’ buttons are displayed in Home Screen Mode

The following issue has been resolved:

  • Keyboard experiences a smoother transition when removed from desktop dock station

The following Apps/Services are now supported:

  • Softcard
  • My Verizon Diagnostics (MVD)
  • Knox 2.0 for Enterprise support
  • Side Sync Call Forwarding Framework
  • Kids Mode

If you own a Verizon-branded Galaxy S4 and have not yet received the OTA update, you can head into “Settings,” then “About Device,” and select “Check for Updates” to manually scan for the upgrade. Alternatively, you can wait until you receive a push notification on your handset prompting you to download and install the update.

  1. Heads up – my stable s4 is now incredibly unstable, to the point of unusable, because of this update. I am currently looking for a way to roll it back to the previous patch.

    1. Mine too. Apps keep crashing in the background (Mostly Amazon), had to stop using hangouts because the image of my last text conversation would stay on the home screen over my wallpaper, and of course my phone decides to reset itself about 4 times a day. Let me know if you figure out how to roll back. Seriously considering custom rom now. I never had a reason before.
