With Android Wear going up for pre-order yesterday, after Google announced the platform officially — did you buy one yet — it was only a matter of time before we started seeing third-party apps make their way to the wearable. It was a short wait indeed, as we have six new apps available for the watch — despite the fact that the SDK was only released yesterday. The six new apps are as follows:
PayPal
Not PayPal's first smart watch app, the app will head to beta testers over the next week and will support all three announced watches.
Pinterest will be location aware with its Android Wear app. It will look at the places you've pinned and notify you when you're near one of those locations.
Soundwave
Soundwave will allow you to save the songs you're rocking out to, with a single tap. You'll get notifications from people who have interacted with the music you've shared.
Eat24
One of the demonstrations yesterday involved ordering a pizza in mere seconds. The app that they used in that demo was from Eat24.
Allthecooks
If you're up for using your Android Wear device for such things, Allthecooks puts recipes you're working on just a wrist away.
Lyft
With Lyft, you'll be able to use voice actions to request a pick up. You'll be able to monitor trip progress, and rate your driver straight from your wrist.
So there you have it. The first apps for Android Wear that aren't Google made. With other developers and companies making their interest in the platform known, it'll only be another matter of time before we see the device fully blossom.
