Nexus and Prime were never meant to be married?

Our friends over at The Droid Guy are back at it again with more rumors on the DROID/Nexus Prime or whatever you want to call it. If you remember they got their hands on the next Nexus, and reported that it would have only one physical button, which we immediately questioned. They are changing their tune, and are now saying that the information was misunderstood by Kyle, who wrote the article. Apparently, it had only a power button along with a volume rocker on the side. They also added that the MHL and HDMI are on one port.

They also suggest that a Nexus Prime does not exist, at least by name. They believe that the Nexus and Prime are two separate devices. We have seen two models floating out there, SCH-I515, heading to Verizon Wireless, and GT-I9250, supposedly for other carriers. We also reported about the post on 4Chan that states the device they saw was called a Galaxy Nexus. I am actually starting to wonder if  ”Prime” is just a codename.

Now looking at the recent riddle-poem from our favorite Panda, the name DROID is mentioned, but never the word Prime. He also hints at a keyboard version which would also indicate different devices.

I think all of this is anyone’s guess. I am starting to lean towards not expecting the “Prime” name on either of the devices. We may actually have the DROID Galaxy and the Galaxy Nexus for all I know, but it is also possible that Prime will only be used for Verizon, and it will be called the Samsung Prime as suggested by the recent Best Buy leak.

The Droid Guy also says that the devices were not stock Android. I find this hard to believe except for the Verizon version, but nobody has seen Ice Cream Sandwich on either of these devices. If Gingerbread was running on these test units, it would not surprise me if their was an added UI.

One last item they brought up was that a Verizon tester told them the HTC Vigor was the better phone. I am not sure what to say about that one, but I am sure the Vigor will hold its own.

I said in my earlier post that it’s going to be a wild ride. I think I may have understated that.
