In a recent discussion with SoMobile, a representative of Sony Ericsson assured us that 2011 Xperia smartphones, like the Xperia Arc and Xperia Ray, all come with support for Android Ice Cream Sandwich. This of course stirred a buzz of speculation as to when Xperia owners could expect an update. Sony Ericsson has recently clarified that individual’s statements as follows:
When it comes to future platforms of the Android OS, we will make them available to consumers in a timely manner, as long as they improve the user experience and are viable from a hardware point of view.
Essentially Sony Ericsson has made no official decision to update its 2011 Xperia phones to Android 4.0 – despite the comments from the Sony Ericsson representative at the London press event yesterday. Still, here’s hoping…
