There is no doubt how important the Galaxy S8 is to Samsung and it looks as though their hard work has paid off. Now that the phones are available for purchase everywhere, Samsung has just announced that during the preorder period they not only saw more orders than last year’s Galaxy S7, but those numbers have set an all-time record.
While the specific number of preordered Galaxy S8 devices was held back by Samsung, they did state that preorders are 30 percent higher than the same preorder period last year with the Galaxy S7. It’s worth noting that, and admittedly this is an assumption, the disastrous Galaxy Note 7 could be at play here with consumers who bought and returned that device with the intention of waiting for the Galaxy S8 rather than purchasing a different phone.
Either way, this is very encouraging news for Samsung as they continue to move full steam ahead with a more vocal commitment to customer satisfaction and squashing any issues or bugs that arise. Not to say that the Galaxy S8 is without fault, as many users have reported red-tinted screens as well as issues with WiFi connectivity. Samsung has already promised software fixes for these issues as well as new tools to give users even greater control over the color calibration of their Galaxy S8.
Despite the rumor mill already churning ahead for next year’s Galaxy S9, this is always an exciting time of year for Samsung and it’s no surprise to see preorder numbers breaking records as the Galaxy S8 is easily one of the best smartphones ever. Sorry, iPhone 7.
